Australia flanker David Pocock could miss the Wallabies crucial Pool C clash with Ireland, according to reports.

The openside flanker is said to be suffering from a sore back and sat out captain's run at Eden Park on Friday. Pocock will be given until the morning of the game to prove his fitness with Robbie Deans having no like-for-like replacement within the squad.

Openside specialists Beau Robinson and Matt Hodgson were omitted from Australia's final 30-man squad leaving the Wallabies with a selection dilemma should Pocock fail to recover in time to face Ireland.

Former Leinster back-row forward Rocky Elsom could switch from blindside flanker on to the openside with one of Ben McCalman or Scott Higginbotham being promoted from the bench to start.
