Ireland fly-half Ronan O'Gara has indicated that he will retire from international rugby following the World Cup.

The 34-year-old Munster No.10 is currently second-choice fly-half in the Irish set-up but continues to play a crucial role and came on to kick two penalties as Ireland recorded a historic victory over Australia on Saturday. Following that game he seemed to indicate that he would end his 11-year international career at the end of the tournament in New Zealand.

"It's massive, this is it for us, I'm done with Ireland in a few weeks," he told Irish television. "I've had a great time in this jersey but I want this to be the biggest time. It's a great team, a great bunch of lads and it means a lot to us."

O'Gara has won 114 caps for his country and scored 1039 international points, making him the fourth highest points scorer in Test history. Among his many highlights at international level was landing a dramatic last-minute drop-goal against Wales two years ago to seal Ireland's first Six Nations Grand Slam since 1948.
