The Blues could be without All Black winger Isaia Toeava for the rest of the Super Rugby season.

Toeava, who has won 36 caps for the All Blacks, has suffered a recurrence of a stress fracture in his hip. Blues doctor Stephen Kara said: "The imaging we had when he got back from Africa certainly shows that still to be there and is bigger, and it's my suspicion that it's probably not healed since May of last year."

Blues coach Pat Lam added: "We're right into the bare bones of the team and the wider training group guys get their opportunity. That's just the nature of the competition. You can go two ways, you can sulk about it or you get on with it and look at it as exciting for guys getting a go."
