Edinburgh forwards coach Tom Smith will leave the side at the end of the season, the club have confirmed.

Smith, who collected 61 caps for the national side during his playing days, has held the post for three years. He was appointed by Rob Moffat after calling time on his playing career at the Northampton Saints and helped Michael Bradley's side reach the semi-finals of the Heineken Cup this year.

Smith is now expected to journey to France where reports in the French press suggest his next club could be relegated Lyon. Smith has hinted at a possible move abroad saying that he is excited at moving onto the next stage of his coaching career "in a country with which I forged a close bond during my playing days".

Head coach Bradley paid tribute to Smith saying: "Tom [Smith] has been a great servant of Edinburgh Rugby for these past three seasons. His front-line experience has been invaluable to our forwards, particularly our all-international front-row and the many promising young stars in our pack."
