Spillage

The chances are that you're going to miss something if you nip off before half-time to beat the queues at the bar - but will everything miss you? Not if you are this unlucky gent trying to do a good turn for his friends during Harlequins' Premiership clash with Saracens at the weekend. Having negotiated the tunnel on his way back to the stand - with beers in hand - he looked up to locate his seat only to be hit on the head by the ball. The blow sent the beer flying and the man to the deck but brought a smile to his face. Re-live the drama below.

"It's a massive, massive story ... an unbelievable story"

The name Mike Pyke may be familiar to some due to his heroics against the All Blacks a few years back and his nonchalant celebration but he has long since turned his back on union in favour of another code - not rugby league but Aussie Rules. His rugby travels took him to Edinburgh and Montauban as well as the 2007 Rugby World Cup before a former Sydney Swans coach Paul Roos took a punt on his services in 2009. That gamble appears to have paid off after Pyke shared in the Swans' AFL Grand Final victory over Hawthorn with Roos hailing it as "a massive, massive story ... an unbelievable story." But we still remember him for this length-of-the-field try.

Durders gets "owned" in ESPN coaching masterclass

Now, we don't like to blow our own trumpet here at ESPNscrum Towers but we thought this clip of our TV colleague Mark Durden-Smith getting comically smashed by ESPN co-commentator and former England international Ben Kay was worthy of a further airing.

The 'tackle' formed part of a coaching clinic from Kay and his fellow analyst Austin Healey which was educational and entertaining at the same time. And yes, they get paid to do this.

Dreams come true for Goosen

South Africa fly-half Johan Goosen will line up opposite arguably the world's best fly-half on Saturday in the form of All Blacks playmaker Dan Carter - but it was not long ago he was just chasing autographs and dreaming of rubbing shoulders with the sport's biggest names.

This photo from South African rugby website 15.co.za shows an even fresher-faced Goosen posing for a picture with Springboks international Jean de Villiers. The date of the picture is unknown, although De Villiers made his Test bow in 2002, but the origin of the more recent image is a little clearer with Goosen having only made his international debut last month, completing the journey from fan to fully-fledged international player.

Dan Carter's Twitter feed can be a little hit and miss - "My favourite drink in South Africa, passionfruit & lemonade" Yawn - but there is the odd gem including this picture of the Kiwi playmaker and some of his team-mates dining out with Australia's Berrick Barnes ahead of the All Blacks' Rugby Championship clash with South Africa on Saturday.

Barnes appears to be grounded in Johannesburg as he recovers from the punctured lung suffered against the Springboks last weekend and was no doubt pleased to have the company. "Dinner out with 9's & 10's! Thanks for the Wallabies game plan Barnesy haha" wrote Carter who now has 70,000 followers and counting.
