Former Scotland back-rower Jason White has called time on his professional rugby career.

White has been without a club since his deal with Clermont Auvergne expired at the end of last season and there were rumours that he was on the verge of penning a deal with the Glasgow Warriors, but that switch never materialised. The 34-year-old, who won 77 caps for Scotland and helped guide Sale to their 2006 Premiership triumph, will now focus on family duties.

"That's me finished," White told The Herald. "I won't be playing professional rugby again. We've just had a little girl, so I'm on daddy duty for a while, which is great.

"I was certainly keen on a move back to Glasgow and there were signs of interest at their end and a lot of talk in the press about it. Unfortunately, it never quite happened. I would have liked to go there, but it wasn't to be."
