Lewis demands more from Black and Ambers

Newport coach Allan Lewis has said that his side must improve if they are to challenge for the Celtic League title.

The Rodney Parade side went down 12-11 in their opening game at Llanelli on Saturday, and despite stopping the Scarlets from scoring a try Lewis feels that they should have won. "When you're a good side, you have to win away from home." He told the Western Mail. "I was pleased with the performance but not the result. We have shown we are not a bad side, but we have to move on. Neath are at our place next weekend and they have got a tremendous attitude. They will attack from all quarters. We have to be ready."

He was also loath to heap too much criticism on second row Simon Raiwalui who conceded a late penalty, which Stephen Jones converted to win the game. "He's totally committed to Newport, and he'd play every game. But it's happened. We've just got to learn from it and move on."
