A report in the Daily Mail claims that tickets for the 2015 Rugby World Cup final at Twickenham will cost up to £715.
It has been well documented that the reduced number of tickets available through the tournament because of the unavailability of major venues such as Old Trafford has left organisers facing increasing prices to help them meet financial targets. ER 2015, who are running the tournament, have had to guarantee the IRB a staggering £80 million.
It is expected that tickets for unattractive games at the group stages could be as low as £7 for children and £15 for adults, and ER2015 has set itself a target of selling 500,000 of the 2.3 million seats on offer for under £50.
But for the premium matches in the last stages, prices will rocket although the top tickets at Twickenham are still comparable to ones sold for the peak athletic days at the 2012 Olympics. "We are still developing our ticketing strategy," an ER 2015 spokesman told the newspaper. "Our aim is to make tickets as affordable and accessible as possible."
