'Few positives in ill-disciplined defeat' - Wyles

USA coach Mike Tolkin has made just one change to his starting XV for their Pool B clash with Scotland at Elland Road on Sunday, bringing in hooker Phil Thiel.

The former Saracens front-row makes the step up from the replacements bench, replacing Zach Fenoglio, who started the defeat to Samoa in Brighton.

Fenoglio retains his place in the 23-man squad, with the shuffle representing the fewest changes between successive Rugby World Cup matches made by the Eagles since 2007.

Chris Wyles and Takudzwa Ngwenya both feature in their ninth World Cup match as they chase down Mike McDonald's U.S. record of 11 tournament appearances.

USA: Wyles (captain), Ngwenya, Kelly, Palamo, Scully, MacGinty, Petri; Fry, Thiel, Lamositele, Smith, Peterson, McFarland, Durutalo, Manoa

Replacements: Fenoglio, Kilifi, Baumann, Dolan, Quill, Barrett, Suniula, Niue
