TWICKENHAM -- Chris Robshaw admitted Wales made England make "silly choices" as they fell to a 28-25 defeat in the key Rugby World Cup pool match at Twickenham.

England had an opportunity to level the game with two minutes left on the clock but Robshaw pointed to the corner favouring a shot at winning the game rather than opting for a kick to draw the match. Robshaw accepted responsibility for the decision post-match and said Wales' game plan won them the match.

"Wales put us under pressure and made us make silly choices," Robshaw said. "You don't make silly choices just for the sake of it and credit to them, they came with an effective game plan and it won them the game."

Of the decision to go for the corner, he said: "It was a tough kick, we weighed up the options and we wanted to go for the win. In the two driving mauls before we made up some good ground and we thought if we could get in that position, we could go for the win. As I've learnt in time, unfortunately it didn't work."

England now have a week to get their house in order ahead of their must-win match against Australia next weekend and Robshaw says his team must bounce back and refocus but admitted they are "devastated"

"It's now about the reaction, the character of the squad. It hurts like hell at the moment. We feel we have let a lot of people down who came to support us. Credit to Wales but it's now about what happens next for us. It's a huge week ahead for us and we have a huge challenge with Wales coming to town. We will be devastated tonight but we need to move on."
