How will the Wallabies handle being labelled the 'favourites?'

Israel Folau and David Pocock have both failed to recover from injury with the duo ruled out of Australia's Rugby World Cup quarterfinal with Scotland at Twickenham on Sunday.

Folau has been battling an ankle injury since Australia's win over England at Twickenham a fortnight ago while Pocock left the field with a calf problem midway through last week's gripping victory over Wales.

The Wallabies have been able to call on some experienced campaigners in the absence of the star duo with veteran utility Kurtley Beale deputising for Folau at fullback and Ben McCalman beating out fellow back-rower Sean McMahon for Pocock's spot at No.8.

Wallabies coach Michael Cheika has made just one unforced change to the side that defeated Wales with lock Rob Simmons returning to the starting side in place of Dean Mumm.

Beale's promotion to the starting side has opened up a spot on the bench for the mercurial Quade Cooper while Sunday's match will be extra special for skipper Stephen Moore and centre Matt Giteau who will both bring up 100 caps in the gold jersey.
