Hello all, ESPNscrum's live coverage of the Six Nations continues as France host Scotland in Saturday's second match.

Scotland spent most of last season's Six Nations on the wrong end of the scoreline - including a 20-0 drubbing by England in their own back yard. But they put up a good fight against France, going down to a last-minute penalty. Can they go one better this time?

"Scotland will win here again some day, whether it is today or not we will have to wait and see," Vern Cotter tells BBC Sport. "But we are going to give it our best shot."

ESPN's Tristan Barclay in Paris: "Conversation with the French press in the build-up to this evening's clash wasn't particularly useful in terms of working out who they thought would win. Questions about a potential result were greeted with plenty of puffed cheeks and shrugged shoulders - that old unpredictability just won't go away.

"Paris is a city still very much recovering from the terrorist atrocities of last month, but the atmosphere inside the Stade de France is one of genuine excitement ahead of the game rather than fear or agitation. There are plenty of armed police officers patrolling outside the stadium, but it's far from an oppressive presence."

Teams coming out now - here we go! No fancy X-Factor/Wrestlemania fireworks like last night in Cardiff, unfortunately. Anthems time - Flower of Scotland first up, with plenty of bagpipe.

Tristan Barclay: "The smile on Stuart Hogg's face during Flower of Scotland told a story - there is a newfound optimism in this squad and they genuinely believe they have a side that can do the business here.

"Thierry Dusautoir looked like he was about to eat the cameraman during the French anthem - there is a lot of passion in the Stade de France today."

Nigel Owens blasts his whistle and penalty goes to France. Cowan goes down on it, and he's holding on there. From a turnover in the lineout, France have the first chance to score in the game. Just in off the upright! Lopez gives himself a little clap.

France have a penalty again - Richie Gray with a stupid tackle.

Lineout at halfway won cleanly by Scotland, Seymour bursts through the middle. He's stayed down however and is being treated in the middle of the field

Round the scrum goes, Scotland didn't get the ball.

Tristan Barclay: "France have had the lion's share of the ball in the opening minutes but it's been fairly even as a contest. Tommy Seymour is taking a few moments to recover from a heavy collision - hoping we don't have another concussion debate on our hands come tomorrow morning."

Turnover here - blue ball. Great tackle from Harley. Blue put in, ref unhappy though as he blows up. Laidlaw puts it in again, and it's a penalty to Scotland. Dusautoir unhappy, but Nigel Owens ran out of patience, France pulling the scrum down

France have men over on the far side but Huget is closed down by Visser. Bastareaud powers through the lines. Gaps starting to appear here for France

Lopez lining up another one here to make it 6-3. No problems.

Tristan Barclay: "They love their attacking rugby on this side of the Channel - every half-break, every attempted offload is greeted with an ear-busting roar from the crowd. Hate to think what the sound will be like if they manage to score a try."

Lopez chip in but Russell reads it well and watches it out. Blue ball but deep inside their 22. Safe linout

Ref blows up for a red penalty, holding on - however his touch judge is telling him to turn it around for offside. Good boot up to the 10 metre line as Scotland clear again

Hogg with a great shimmy and Scotland within striking distance. French defence holding up, though. Russell goes for the drop goal and it's a big ol' shank. Wasted opportunity - pulled the trigger a bit too early on the drop attempt, seems like they should have kept going through the phases

Drive from France, but there's a turnover - Dunbar kicks it wide for Hogg. Penalty says Nigel Owens - illegally scooped back after a bundle for the ball

Lineout on the 22 for France. Here comes Huget. Scotland holding out well. No drop goal attempt but Huget can't collect it from Huget - he would've been in

Penalty to Scotland - Russell kicks it into touch just before the halfway. Short lineout, Russell onto Bennett but spilled and turned over

Great composure from Scotland, switching it out to the right. Long pass from Russell, Murray offloads to Fife and he goes over in the corner - his first try for Scotland.

Great slide from Hogg to take the high ball, out to Ford and the red penalty comes for not releasing. Out of range for the kickers so Spedding lamps it with his right into touch

Bastareaud bouncing off the Scottish challenges through the middle - he really cleaned out Euan Murray there, which you don't see often

Scotland penalty - France faltering at the scrum, the second scrum penalty they've given away

Lopez chips it over and Fife slips out of play on the touchline - then throws the ball away in frustration to concede a penalty. Oh Dougie! Lopez with the first score of the half - it's a four-point lead.

Richie Gray bursts forward for Scotland after cleaning up Russell's kick that bounces off Bastareaud

Cowan spills and France secure the ball. Lopez knocks it over Fife, but ref comes back for the French penalty inside their own half

It's spilled forward though! What a waste! Quality of the passing isn't good enough there. Scotland still in trouble here though, blue put in... Scrum collapses, and we'll go again.

Russell skids the ball down the middle. Laidlaw takes the return, turned over though, but Fofana gets hit. Bastareaud out to Thomas on the left, Scotland survive
