Worcester powered past Bucuresti 53-17 in their European Challenge Cup Pool 3 clash.

The Warriors ran in seven tries in a comfortable victory in Romania to top pool three with two wins from two games.

Rico Gear scored twice as Worcester continue to make light work of the pool stage with a second successive half-century of points - just a week after seeing off Italians Petrarca with ease.

The Warriors did not have it all their own way when Florin Vlaicu converted Samoan wing Jeff Makapela's 20th minute try to reduce their lead to 11-10 midway through the first half.

Ryan Powell steadied the ship with an immediate response before a penalty try opened a 25-10 lead for the Guinness Premiership outfit at half-time. Having repelled the early pressure, Worcester's greater strength and speed told with a further four tries in the second half.

Lock Craig Gillies secured the bonus point after just 45 minutes before centre Sam Tuitupou tore clear for the fifth and Gear grabbed his second of the game. Makapela grabbed a second for Bucuresti but Joey Carlisle had the final say for Worcester, replacing Tuitupou before converting his own try in the final minute to break the 50-point mark and leave the Warriors clear at the top of the group.
