London Irish director of rugby Toby Booth has heaped praise on goal-kicking sensation Tom Homer in the wake of their 25-19 defeat to Racing Metro.

Booth kicked five from five - including one from 56 metres - at the weekend to take his personal tally to 210 points for the season. The 21-year-old, Booth says, is progressing in all the right areas to put himself in the frame for a Six Nations call-up.

"Tom is very important to us and he is getting better," said Booth. "There is no better goal-kicker in the Premiership than Tom and to land a kick from well inside his own half with something to spare on a cold day makes him special.

"We have contributed nothing as a club to his technique, which is his own. He is an instinctive kicker and we have just helped with process.

"He knows he has to develop other parts of his game to gain international recognition and he is working on that. With us, he is making it very difficult to leave him out of the side when everyone is fit."

Irish remain in contention for the Heineken Cup quarter-finals, but Booth earlier acknowledged the London side face a huge task in order to do so.
