England and London Irish prop Alex Corbisiero is targeting an October return from the knee injury that prematurely ended his summer tour to South Africa.

Corbisiero was inked in to start the third Test against the Springboks but was forced to withdraw due to a knee injury. With England currently on the first day of three at their Loughborough training camp, Corbisiero is undergoing rehabilitation with skipper Chris Robshaw who is also sidelined but with a thumb injury.

The prop hopes to be back in Exiles colours in October ahead of the November Tests but he will miss the infamous fitness test that the rest of the England squad will be subjected to on Tuesday.

"I'll be there cheering the boys on [for the fitness test] and then be in the gym, the pool and the rehab room but I'll be watching so I'm involved and I know what's going on so when I do return I'm up to speed," Corbisiero told RFU TV. "Our ultimate goal is to win a world cup in our own country and we've got a great squad and a great Saxons squad with a ton a talent to come through and bolster us further.

"It's brilliant to have everyone here together, getting us all on the same page. Guys like myself and Chris Robshaw are not training fully but we're here and all want to be on the journey to 2015 and beyond."

With Team GB currently excelling in the 2012 London Olympics, Corbisiero hopes that the England team will experience the same sort of staunch support when they run out in the World Cup on home soil in 2015. Corbisiero said: "The athletes have been outstanding and the crowds have carried them on. I can't even imagine what that must feel like and hopefully I'll be able to achieve that in 2015.

"We've got a long road ahead of us but there is something bright to look forward to when you see the experiences people are having at the London Olympics."
