Worcester Warriors have signed Scotland Test prop Euan Murray from the Newcastle Falcons.

Murray is currently on loan at Top 14 side Agen and his spell in the French top flight will come to an end in November. The Falcons are currently five from five in the Championship after succumbing to relegation from the Aviva Premiership at the end of last season and they have allowed the Scottish international to leave and link up with the Warriors.

The tight-head joined the Falcons in December 2010 after a spell with the Northampton Saints and the Falcons' executive director Paul Varley explained the decision to let the 47-cap international go. Varley said: "We believe that we have a squad strong enough to reach the Championship playoffs and gain promotion back to the Aviva Premiership.

"With this in mind we were prepared to release Euan as we look to reduce the outgoings on players."

Director of rugby Dean Richards added: "Euan has served us well over the last few years and with his aspirations to play in the Premiership, continue to play for Scotland and ultimately tour with the British Lions, this is a terrific move for him.

"We also have to be realistic and play within our means as a Championship team. The squad is packed with experience and has now got momentum after a series of wins, as we look to drive towards the Premiership."

The Warriors will be Murray's third Premiership side and he is relishing the chance to turn out in the top flight once again. "I'm really excited about getting involved with the Warriors," Murray said. "I have done a fair bit of research and I realise that the club is definitely going in the right direction. It's an impressive team sheet so I am looking forward to starting at Sixways."
