Leicester Tigers are confident England lock Geoff Parling will commit his future to the Aviva Premiership club.

The 29-year-old's current deal with expires in the summer but Leicester director of rugby Richard Cockerill insists the lock, who joined the Tigers in 2009, wants to stay with the club.

Cockerill told BBC Radio Leicester: "There's a deal to be done and I am sure there will be one. There will be interest in Geoff, as there will be in all the players, but he wants to stay. We have helped him develop, he has worked hard and we want to keep him."

Parling's move from Newcastle to Leicester was the launch pad for the lock to gain international recognition and he has gone on to become a central figure for Stuart Lancaster's new England side, winning 12 caps so far. Gloucester are thought to be among the clubs interested in Parling as a replacement for Jim Hamilton, who is set to move to France at the end of the season.
