Wales flyer Alex Cuthbert has agreed a new three-year deal with the Cardiff Blues, according to reports.

Cuthbert came close to joining Racing Metro last season, only to sign a new one-year contract with the Blues, and was reportedly on the Parisian giant's radar again this term. But despite seeing the likes of Dan Lydiate and Jamie Roberts opting to leave the Welsh regional set-up for a move elsewhere, Cuthbert has decided to stay in Cardiff, according to the Rugby Paper.

The 22-year-old has scored 20 tries in 26 games for the Blues and played a key role in Wales' 2012 Six Nations Grand Slam. And the newspaper claims that he has penned a new deal in excess of his current £140,000-a-year salary.

"I'm grateful to Cardiff Blues for giving me my chance and feel I owe them," Cuthbert said. "I'm still developing and have so much to learn.

"Being in the Wales environment helps a lot and working with the national coaches as well is only going to further my development."
