Worcester Warriors have been hit with a huge blow ahead of Friday's Aviva Premiership match against Sale following the news Jake Abbott is out for a lengthy spell.

The flanker ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament while playing against Leicester on Friday and is "likely to be ruled out for the coming months while he recovers from surgery".

"The loss of Jake leaves a big hole in the squad and we will miss his relentless energy on the pitch," Warriors boss Dean Ryan conceded. "However I have no doubt that Jake will approach this challenge with the same determination and commitment that he always displays around the club."
