Laurence Dallaglio set to join Wasps board of directors

World Cup winner Laurence Dallaglio is set to join the board of directors of former club Wasps.

Dallaglio spent the entirety of his 18-year career at Wasps, leading the club to two Heineken Cup triumphs and five Premiership titles. He retired in 2008 and recently advised the club around its move from Wycombe to Coventry's Ricoh Arena.

The former England captain, who also appeared at three British & Irish Lions tours, will become a non-executive director of his old club.

"I am thrilled to have been asked to return to Wasps' board as a non-executive director," Dallaglio said. "Wasps has formed such a significant part of my life, having spent almost 20 years with the club. "I have been extremely impressed by Derek Richardson's vision and ambition for Wasps since he took over. The off-field transformation that he and Wasps' new management team have created in such a short space of time has been incredible to watch."

Dallaglio hopes he can use his new role to help Wasps re-establish itself as one of the dominant forces of European club rugby.

"It is a very exciting time to be involved with the club. I'm looking forward to being part of Wasps' new era and helping to ensure Wasps' off-field progress matches the progress that Dai Young's squad will undoubtedly make on the field. Through the drive shown by Wasps' management team, I am confident the club will re-establish itself as a force to be reckoned with in Europe."
