October 18, 2000

Llanelli will introduce some new blood when Roma travel to Stradey Park for Saturday's Heineken Cup Pool 5 game.

Included in the changes is a new half back paring with Rupert moon getting his first start of the European campaign as Guy Easterby drops to the bench, while Alex Lawson is given his chance to impress as Stephen Jones moves to inside centre. The other changes see Marcus Thomas move into the front row in place of Robin McBryde while Garan Evans replaces Salesi Fuinau on the wing.

Despite the changes team manager Anthony Buchanan, speaking to the South Wales Evening post refuses to see the game against the Italians as a formality in the Scarlets bid for a second successive quarter final place. "Far from it," he said. "We've had Roma watched a couple of times and know they'll be up for it. Both Alex and Marcus need rugby. They have trained very hard and Alex, in particular, will not have played for four weeks."

Another addition to the squad is Wayne Proctor. The former captain has been troubled by an ankle injury since the start of the season, but is now back to full fitness and wins a amongst the replacements - his first involvement in the squad this season.
