Beauden Barrett is likely to miss the Hurricane's next clash after injuring his knee during the Hurricanes 29-23 win over the Crusaders in Wellington on Saturday night. The star fly-half limped off the field with 10-minutes left.

"I haven't spoken to the doctor yet, but we had a look on the replay and I think he just got sandwiched from the side. But he's not too uncomfortable in there [the changing room]," Boyd told Fairfax New Zealand. But Boyd suggested he may give his pivot his second mandatory All Blacks rest week rather than take any chances of serious injury.

"Possibly. If Beauden is not 100% right we may well take the opportunity to give him a second rest. I'd be inclined too."

The Hurricanes remain at the top of the New Zealand conference and the Super Rugby table after securing nine wins from 10 matches and look set for a playoff berth.
