In-form Connacht moved to the top of the Guinness PRO12 table with a three-try 33-19 victory over Benetton Treviso at the Sportsground.

Benefiting from the Scarlets' loss at Leinster, Pat Lam's men picked up their fifth win on the bounce -- the province's best run of league results since 2002 -- before switching their focus to next week's novel Challenge Cup trip to Siberia to play Enisei-STM.

Treviso full-back Jayden Hayward scored the only try of the first half, leaving the Italians 9-5 behind, with Connacht centre Craig Ronaldson landing three of his four penalty attempts.

Converted scores from the returning Robbie Henshaw and replacement hooker Tom McCartney, sandwiching Hayward's second try, kept the westerners on course before Ronaldson added another penalty and converted Matt Healy's 75th-minute score.

Healy had to go off injured, leaving the hosts with 14 players, and knock-ons blighted their late push for a bonus point, with Treviso grabbing an injury-time conversion score through replacement scrum-half Edoardo Gori.

Scarlets' six-match winning run in the Guinness PRO12 was ended by Leinster at the RDS as a very rare Mike Ross try proved crucial in a 19-15 win for the hosts.

Returning from Rugby World Cup duty, veteran prop Ross crossed the whitewash for the first time in two and a half years as Leinster took control with 10 unanswered points in the second half.

Centre duo Hadleigh Parkes and Gareth Owen had struck for tries inside the opening 24 minutes as the table-topping Welsh side built a deserved 15-9 interval lead. The returning Ian Madigan kicked three penalties for Leinster.

Aided by a strong bench that included Jonathan Sexton, Leo Cullen's men turned the screw after the break with Ross' 44th-minute effort converted by Madigan who added the final points via a 59th-minute penalty.

The Scarlets finished on the attack, pressing for a match-winning try, but Leinster replacement Dan Leavy forced a knock-on in a tackle to confirm a hard-fought victory ahead of next week's Champions Cup visit of Wasps to Dublin.
