A Welsh rugby supporter died in hospital from injuries he received in a fight in the Irish midlands town of Roscrea 12 days ago, police said on Monday.

Dorian Vick, 32, from Gwent, was critically injured in a row in the county Tipperary town on 30 March and had been in a coma since.

He had arrived in Roscrea with a group of friends involved in a Welsh rugby team.

They had regularly played friendly matches with the local team before travelling to Dublin for Ireland-Wales international matches.

Police Superintendent Jim Mulligan said they had interviewed a number of people.

One man had been arrested and questioned. He was released but a file was being prepared for the country's director of public prosecutions.
