Aberdeen University disqualified from National Leagues
April 12, 2000

Aberdeen University have been disqualified from the BT Scotland National League Division Five North after they failed to fulfil a fixture for the second time this season.
The two occasions were the away fixtures against Caithness on 29 January and 1 April. Aberdeen University's disqualification means all their results in National League Division Five North have been erased with a consequent effect on points differentials.
Division Five North has two outstanding fixtures - Orkney v RAF Kinloss this Saturday and Orkney v Mackie Academy FP next Saturday (22 April). Should Orkney win both games, scoring four or more tries in both matches and boost their points differential by 142 or more they would leapfrog Ellon at the top of the table.
This would mean that the "Play-off A" process upon which clubs had already embarked to determine one of the two clubs promoted to National League Division Four would have to start afresh. All the clubs involved in this situation, Orkney, Ellon, Hillfoots and Waysiders-Drumpellier, have been kept advised of developments.
John Thorburn, the SRU's Domestic Game Manager, said: "In light of the circumstances it is only proper that Orkney complete their fixtures. The next stage of Play-off A, Waysiders-Drumpellier v Hillfoots, scheduled for this weekend, has been postponed to a later date. In Play-off B, the match between Irvine and Forrester FP goes ahead as scheduled this weekend."
