The Ospreys have ruled that a number of "serious allegations" made concerning the behaviour of a number of their players during their Christmas party were "completely untrue" and "without foundation".

The Ospreys released a statement on Friday revealing that while the conduct of certain members of the squad during the event at Taibach Rugby Club on December 19 had been "unacceptable" and that those in question would be disciplined, there had been no truth to the more serious accusations, which have been circulating online in recent weeks.

"Following recent allegations made relating to the conduct of Ospreys players at Taibach Rugby Club on Sunday 19th December, Ospreys management have conducted a thorough investigation in conjunction with Taibach," the statement read.

"As a result of this investigation, they have been able to confirm that a number of serious allegations made at the time are completely untrue and without any foundation whatsoever.

"However, the investigation did show that some of the conduct displayed was unacceptable and fell below the standards expected of an Osprey. As such, the individuals concerned have now been dealt with through the Ospreys internal disciplinary procedures.

"In addition, Ospreys management are liaising with Taibach RFC to identify ways in which the squad can work closely with the club in the coming months, in particular, to strengthen links between the two organisations and to help with rugby development in the local community.

"Ospreys Rugby would like to thank the officials of Taibach RFC for their co-operation and assistance in this matter.

"This matter is now closed and there will be no further comment from either party."
