Gloucester centre Tim Molenaar has signed a new two-year deal to keep him at Kingsholm until 2014.

The New Zealand born centre follows in the footsteps of Charlie Sharples, Jim Hamilton, Henry Trinder, Will James and Olly Morgan in committing his future to the Cherry and Whites. But the 30-year-old has endured a torrid season at Gloucester after tearing his pectoral muscle during pre-season. But he is now nearing full fitness and he is looking to build on the boost of his new contract and transfer that optimism to the field.

"I was obviously delighted when the club approached me about a new contract," Molenaar said. "I've been out for a while and it was a massive boost when Brush told me that he wanted me to stay.

"I've loved my time here since moving down from Nottingham and signing the new deal was a no brainer to be honest. Hopefully I'm not too far away from being able to start making a contribution this season and beginning to repay the faith that Gloucester have shown in me."

In other Premiership news, Wasps scrum-half Nic Berry has been suspended for three weeks for a dangerous tackle during November 7's A-team defeat to London Irish.

The Australian pleaded guilty after he was charged under Law 10 (4) (J) (lifting a player off the ground and dropping or driving that player into the ground whilst that player's feet are still off the ground, such that his head/upper body comes into contact with the ground first) over a tackle on opposite number Jack Moates. Berry is free to play again on December 20.
