Wales will delay the announcement of their team to face South Africa at the Millennium Stadium until Thursday due to a number of injury doubts.

Warren Gatland's side will be missing a number of English-based players, including Gloucester's Richard Hibbard and Bath's Paul James, but also have injury worries, especially at loose-head prop, where Nicky Smith has a pectoral injury and Gethin Jenkins is recovering from a hamstring injury that kept him out of Saturday's game against the All Blacks. He will resume training on Tuesday. Scarlets loose-head Rob Evans has been called up as cover.

Elsewhere, George North is undergoing concussion protocols, scrum-half Rhys Webb is being assessed for a groin injury and Leigh Halfpenny has a shoulder problem that is not thought to be serious.

Backs coach Rob Howley spoke on Monday about the loss to the All Blacks and believes there is much for Wales to draw on.

"I spoke to the All Blacks management on Saturday night and one coach said we had got under their skin," said Howely. "It was one of the best Test matches I have seen in the last decade at the Millennium Stadium. We've gone toe to toe with the world's best for 69 minutes. Then the world-class skill set of players and their kicking game worked.

"The most pleasing aspect of the game was we did not allow them to get away from us between 45 and 65 minutes. The players showed great determination to come back and lead 13-10 and 16-15. But ultimately the game is about 80 minutes and we have come up and short."
