Time Score

Ireland and Argentina are heading for a titanic struggle at Croke Park this afternoon. In what has become one of the most keenly contested rivalries in world rugby, the Irish and Pumas have five wins apiece down the years.

Ireland must win this afternoon if they are to keep alive a second-tier seeding for the 2011 World Cup, while Santiago Phelan's Pumas will want to continue on from their victory over Italy last weekend. Ireland have no shortage of motivation after last season's World Cup drubbing, but they will not have to worry about Argentina playmaker Juan Martin Hernandez, he's out with an injury sustained in the warm-up. Step in 23 year-old Santiago Fernandez. Join us for all the action at 14.45 GMT.

O'Gara sees Bowe on the cross kick and Bowe scampers over to score

Returned to Murphy, who beats a couple. Argentina turn the ball over. Roncero rumbles on before Lawrence gives a scrum when the ball becomes unplayable.

80

Argentina go wide, but the defence is good. Penalty goes their way, taken quickly and Ledesma rolls on. Still going through the forwards, swinging arms everywhere, looks like Agulla the main culprit. The referee has had enough and calls for full-time. An ugly and ill-tempered game, but Ireland have secured their place in the second set of seeds for the World Cup.
