Argentina have been rocked by the news that Gonzalo Tiesi has been ruled of the remainder of their World Cup campaign.
The former London Irish and Harlequins midfield ace had to be helped from the field just before half-time in the game in Dunedin after collapsing under the weight of a tackle from England lock Courtney Lawes. Subsequent scans revealed that Tiesi will play no part in the rest of the tournament.
However, in a massive boost for the Pumas, the rib injury which forced captain Felipe Contepomi off after just 25 minutes of play is not as bad as first feared and the Stade Francais fly-half could be available for Saturday's clash with Romania in Invercargill.
"There is no fracture," Pumas assistant coach Fabian Turnes said. "It's only bruising. He is in a lot of pain and we will just have to see how it goes. We will wait till tomorrow (Monday) to see whether he will be able to play against Romania."
