Ireland scrum-half Isaac Boss has been ruled out of their three-Test tour to New Zealand.

Boss picked up a thigh injury in the warm-up ahead of Leinster's Heineken Cup win over Ulster. Boss had previously hoped to prove his fitness to Declan Kidney and the rest of his backroom staff, but with the party leaving for New Zealand on Thursday, Boss will remain in Dublin.

Ulster's Paul Marshall now seems inline to get the nod for a spot on the plane. In better news for Ireland though, Paul O'Connell still harbours hopes of making the trip. The lock will continue his rehabilitation from his knee injury in London and will miss Thursday's flight with his fitness test on Friday.

With Kidney opting to leave a few blank spaces in his squad, he will announce the full squad for the tour on Wednesday after their clash with the Barbarians tonight at Kingsholm.
