Sonny Bill Williams gave his World Cup winner's medal to a fan in the Twickenham crowd following New Zealand's 34-17 victory over Australia.

Young All Blacks fan Charlie Lines tried to race onto the pitch to celebrate with his heroes, only to be accosted by stewards.

Williams was then pictured meeting Lines, and draping his winner's medal around the youngsters neck.

Cross-code superstar Williams, also the one-time New Zealand heavyweight boxing champion, helped the All Blacks become the first team in rugby history to retain the World Cup.

The 30-year-old produced a bullish break that teed up Ma'a Nonu's second try, with the All Blacks crossing three times in all to retain the Webb Ellis Cup.
