Meadows could miss worlds to boost London chances

Jenny Meadows is prepared to sidestep the World Indoor Championships next month if she feels it will jeopardise her preparations for London 2012.

Meadows, who won 800m silver at the 2010 event in Doha, pulled out of the Aviva International in Glasgow last month with a minor injury, and she is still unsure whether to compete in Istanbul.

GB head coach Charles van Commenee has told Meadows he wants her on the plane for next month's championships, but she insists she will only travel if she is 100% happy with her fitness.

"I don't know if I will do the World Indoors," Meadows said in the Sun. "My focus is on London. It's hard because you want to compete but don't want to do anything to jeopardise London."
