Gatlin shows Olympic pedigree by beating Powell

World indoor champion Justin Gatlin showed himself to be a leading medal contender at London 2012 with 100 metres victory at the Diamond League meeting in Doha.
American's Gatlin triumphed ahead of a high-quality field, which featured Jamaica's Asafa Powell, in a time of 9.87 seconds.
Powell clocked 9.88, which is just 0.06 seconds off this year's world-leading time posted by Usain Bolt in Kingston on May 5.
Gatlin, who is eligible for London 2012 after serving a four-year doping ban, will try and book his Olympic place at the United States trials in June.
In British action, Greg Rutherford failed to live up to his status as holder of this year's world-leading long jump, finishing fourth in Qatar.
Perri Shakes-Drayton was third in the 400m, Andrew Osagie had a personal best time to place third in the 800m, while Kate Dennison ended fourth in the pole vault.
