Bolt lined up for London return

Usain Bolt has agreed to appear at this year's Diamond League meeting in London, one year on from his heroics inside the Olympic Stadium.

According to the Telegraph, Bolt will return to the site of his memorable victories in the 100 metres, 200m and 4x100m relay on July 26 and 27 - competing in two disciplines over the course of a meeting that is being billed as the 'London Anniversary Games'.

Bolt has rarely appeared on British soil in the last few years, due to the tax regulations previously in place. But a recent tax exemption for overseas stars, pushed through by the Conservative government, means Bolt can now earn an estimated £500,000 for his appearance in East London without any of it being subject to UK taxation.

The Jamaican will headline a field of athletes that is likely to be the envy of every other Diamond League meeting in 2013 - with Jessica Ennis, Mo Farah, Yohan Blake and David Rudisha all expected to compete.

Bolt had previously acknowledged that Britain's tax rules were keeping him from being a more regular presence in Britain.

"As soon as the law changes I'll be here all the time," Bolt said. "I love being here, I have so many Jamaican fans here and it's wonderful."

Bolt's prospective appearance in London has raised hopes that he will also be in Glasgow for the 2014 Commonwealth Games, although that appears to be less certain.

"It depends on what shape he is in physically and whether he has any injuries," a spokeswoman for the sprinter told The Scotsman. "Those are the main issues around whether he competes in Glasgow or not."
