Christine Ohuruogu kicked off her Diamond League schedule by finishing third in the women's 400m in Doha.

The silver medallist from London 2012 managed to clock her best time of the season with a 50.53secs, but was unable to get the better of world champion Amantle Montsho - who ended the 10-year unbeaten run of American Allyson Felix with a time of 49.88secs to win the race.

"I owe this win to the crowd. They really cheered me on. I aim to run below 49 seconds this season and this win is a big motivating factor. I am confident I can retain my world title in Moscow," Montsho said.

British interest saw Robbie Grabarz, who claimed bronze at the Olympics last summer, only finish fourth in the high jump as Bohdan Bondarenko from Ukraine won the event.

Elsewhere, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce won the 200m, and the Olympic 100m champion said: "It was important for me to start the season with a win and I have done that. I was feeling a bit tired after the long trip from Jamaica, therefore I didn't stretch myself much. The atmosphere was great, it reminded me of the cheering Jamaican crowd back home. Thank you Doha."
