British Olympic long jump champion Greg Rutherford was disappointed with his performance in the Diamond League after coming third in Shanghai.

The 26-year-old finished behind winner Jinzhe Li of China and Russian Aleksandr Menkov after he jumped 8.08-metres, with the top two recording lengths of 8.34m and 8.31m respectively.

And after his display Rutherford took to Twitter to say: "Not a fantastic performance. Gutted I missed that 4th round. What could have been!".

Later in an interview, the Milton Keynes athlete said: "I go to every competition to win it. That's why I'm disappointed to finish third today. Going forward, by the time Moscow [World Championships] comes around I expect to be in very good shape and hopefully able to jump a lot further than last year."

Robbie Grabarz, who won bronze at London 2012, could not deliver British success in Shanghai as he only finished fifth in the men's high jump.

Meanwhile Olympic 100m champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce took a comfortable victory to set the quickest time of the year at 10.93seconds.

"I just came out to execute a good race, and I think I did that," the Jamaican said. "I'm just looking forward to the rest of the season. I pray to God that if I can continue to stay healthy, that is key at this moment because it's a long season."
