Olympic heptathlon champion Jessica Ennis-Hill will not compete in the upcoming British Championships in Birmingham as she continues to recover from an ankle injury.

The 27-year-old is yet to compete on the track this season, and the latest set-back is yet another blow to Ennis-Hill's preparations for the World Championships in Moscow, which take place in August.

A British Athletics statement read: "She [Ennis-Hill] is following a very comprehensive rehabilitation programme, working with the British Athletics medical team and her physiotherapist Alison Rose."

Olympic long jump champion Greg Rutherford is also set to miss out on proceedings at the Alexander Stadium, withdrawing with a hamstring injury he suffered when competing at the recent Diamond League meeting in Paris.

Another big name who will not be competing is Team GB Olympic hero Mo Farah - the 30-year-old opting to sit out the event as he prepares for the 5,000 and 10,000 metres at the World Championships.
