After becoming the second-fastest Briton ever over 100 metres, James Dasaolu insists his incredible form is all down to new coach Steve Fudge.

Earlier in July, Dasaolu posted a time of 9.91 seconds at the British Championships in Birmingham; three-hundredths of a second faster than Usain Bolt's best time this year. It was also Dasaolu's fourth personal best of the year.

However, with another chance to test himself against six-time Olympic champion Bolt at the upcoming Anniversary Games, Dasaolu is aiming to impress in front of the home support.

"The big change for me was in January 2012 when I made the move to train with Steve Fudge, he's been able to keep me injury-free and healthy," Dasaolu said.

"I've been able to have a full winter and progress, to build on what I did in 2012 for 2013, hence why I've now run a personal best. I wouldn't say I was a fragile athlete, I was probably just doing the incorrect training, training that wasn't suited to me as a person.

"Training with Steve enables me to have a tailored programme. Steve is able to manage my load. I wouldn't say I'm a fragile guy, I've just been doing the wrong programme for a number of years, and now hopefully I'll be fit and able to run and enjoy the sport.

"It's going be a tough race against the quickest man in history, he's a six-time Olympic champion and has other accolades. I'm going to give it my best and enjoy competing in front of a home crowd."

Linford Christie still holds the British record with his time of 9.87s posted at the 1993 World Championships.
