Gay's 'B' sample confirmed positive
Tyson Gay's 'B' sample from an out-of-competition drug test in May has returned positive for a banned substance - and reports have emerged that the American may have failed more than one test this year.
The former world champion has been caught up in a drugs scandal along with Jamaican sprinter Asafa Powell, and it is being reported that American Gay failed more than one drug test in 2013, with the other being last month at the US Championships, where he triumphed in both the 100m and 200m.
Speaking on the May test, the chief executive of the US Anti-Doping Agency Travis Tygart said: "We can confirm that the 'B' sample analysis of a sample collected from Mr Gay has been completed and that the 'B' sample analysis has confirmed the 'A' sample findings.
"The results of these tests were expected given Mr Gay's acceptance of responsibility for the substances found in his body as soon as he was notified of the 'A' sample results."
Gay, the second quickest man in history behind Usain Bolt, at the time said he "made a mistake" and "put his trust in someone and was let down".
