Olympic heptathlon champion Jessica Ennis-Hill has expressed concern over her recovery from an Achilles injury, admitting she may not feature at next month's World Championships in Moscow.

Ennis-Hill finished fourth in the women's 100m hurdles during Saturday's Diamond League meeting at the Olympic Stadium - only her second competitive appearance since winning gold at the same venue at London 2012.

However, the 27-year-old remains uncertain as to whether she will be fit enough to compete in Russia and insists she needs time to assess her chances.

"This weekend was a big challenge just to see how my Achilles is holding up," Ennis told the BBC. "I'm obviously frustrated and would have loved to have come into this event better prepared.

"I'm happy that the injury isn't giving me too much trouble but we will need to assess my recovery tomorrow. This was my first hurdle race since the Olympics and I just needed to get back into it.

"I hope to have a good idea in the next couple of days about my chances of making Moscow. "I'm frustrated. I'm not sure if I'll be there [at the World Championships]. I can't really say. I'm happy it's not given me trouble today but I need to see where I am tomorrow.

"I just need to assess each day. Some days it feels good and then other days it goes back to where it was. It's a frustrating road ahead of the World Championships, but I'll see how it is tomorrow and make some decisions."
