Bolt announces retirement

Usain Bolt has announced he will retire from sprinting after the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Bolt says he wants to win gold in Brazil, set another world record in the 200 metres and win gold at the Commonwealth Games before hanging up his spikes.

"I think it will be a good time to retire, on top and just been dominating for so long," Bolt said.

After winning another three golds at the World Championships in Moscow, Bolt will run his final race of the season in the 100 metres at this week's Diamond League meet in Zurich.

"If I want to be among the greats of [Muhammad] Ali and Pele and all these guys I have to continue dominating until I retire."
