Tomlinson starts new season with three no marks

Great Britain's Chris Tomlinson opened his long-jump season with three no marks at the first Diamond League meet of 2014 in Doha.

Tomlinson, who recently claimed Greg Rutherford's newly-set British record was "clearly a foul", struggled with his run up as the early evening wind took its toll in Qatar. Louis Tsatoumas won the men's event with a jump of eight metres six centimetres.

Eilidh Child produced a fine late surge to finish third in the women's 400m hurdles. Child recorded a time of 55.43 seconds and crossed the line behind winner Kemi Adekoya and second-placed Kaliese Spencer.

Jennifer Meadows finished seventh in the women's 800m in a time of two minutes 0.91 seconds while Shelayna Oskan-Clarke recorded a personal best time of two minutes 1.94 seconds to cross the line in ninth.

Andrew Osagie finished eighth in the men's 800m with a time of one minute 46.08 seconds in a race won by Mohammed Aman in one minute 44.49 seconds.

Kenya's former Olympic and world champion Asbel Kiprop won the men's 1500m, while Jamaica's Shelley-Ann Fraser-Pryce claimed the women's 100m with a time of 11.13s. America's Lashawn Merritt timed 44.44s to win the men's 400m.

Hellen Obire produced a stunning personal best time of eight minutes 20.68 seconds to win the women's 3000m. The time was 14 seconds better than Obire's best and makes the Kenyan the fifth fastest 3000m runner in history. Genzebe Dibabe finished sixth.
