Justin Gatlin ran a world-leading time to win the men's 200m in the Diamond League in Monaco.

Gatlin brushed his rival Tyson Gay and the rest of the field aside to run a time of 19.68 seconds - which is the joint-eighth quickest of all time.

Gatlin smashed his personal best of 19.86 seconds from 2002 as Gay, who returned from a 12-month drugs suspension last month, could only manage fourth position.

Gatlin, who served a four-year doping ban from 2006, is currently the fastest man in the world in the 100m this year.

Tori Bowie took victory in the women's 100m to beat a field which included Olympic and World 100m champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce as well as the last two Olympic 200m champions, Veronica Campbell-Brown and Allyson Felix.

Bowie ran a personal best of 10.8 seconds to become the fastest woman in the world in 2014 as Campbell-Brown finished second with Felix down in fifth.

Asbel Kiprop missed out on the world record of three minutes and 26 seconds in the men's 1500m as the world champion was passed by Silas Kiplagat on the final straight to win in a time of three minutes and 27.64 seconds.
