Sharman shines ahead of Commonwealth Games

England's Will Sharman continued his hot streak of form ahead of Glasgow 2014 as he narrowly lost out in a three-way photo-finish to the 110 metres hurdles final at the Anniversary Games in London.

Sharman ended up in third, behind American Ryan WIlson and Shane Brathwaite from Barbados, though all three athletes finished in the same time of 13.24 seconds.

On the purpose-built track at Horse Guards Parade, Sharman finished ahead of Olympic champion Aries Meritt as he gets ready for the start of the Commonwealth Games next week.

"The times I am running on average now would get medals at all of the championships," said Sharman, who set and matched a personal best of 13.21 this summer.

Elsewhere at Sunday's event, which marked two years since the London Olympics, England's Chris Tomlinson won the long jump with a leap of 7.94m, while Olympic champion Greg Rutherford was absent due to a knee injury.

In the women's 100m, two-time Olympic gold medallist Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce was beaten by American Allyson Felix.
