Farah sets new British record in Birmingham

Great Britain's Mo Farah set a new British record to claim victory in the men's two-mile race at Sunday's Diamond League event in Birmingham, while Christine Ohuruogu impressed in the women's 400 metres.

Farah set a new Diamond League record as he stormed across the line at the Alexander Stadium, finishing in a time of eight minutes 7.85 seconds - which also eclipsed Steve Ovett's previous British marker of eight minutes 13 seconds. Andy Vernon was almost 20 seconds back in sixth place.
Fellow Brit Ohuruogu also shone on the track as she clocked a time of 51.40 seconds to win the women's 400m, ahead of American duo Joanna Atkins and Jessica Beard.
Kelly Massey clinched fifth with a personal best time of 51.96s while fellow Brit Anyika Onuora finished sixth with the same time. Shana Cox was eighth with a time of 52.7s.
Jamaica's Kemar Bailey-Cole took victory in the men's 100m with a time of 10.08s, ahead of team-mate Nesta Carter and America's Michael Rogers. Briton Chijindu Ujah was fourth in 10.23s while Harry Aikines-Aryeetey was sixth in a time of 10.34s.
Britain's Asha Philip clocked 11.26s in the women's 100m and finished third, behind winner Kerron Stewart and Myriam Soumare. Ashleigh Nelson was fourth in 11.27s.
Great Britain's Lynsey Sharp put in a brilliant performance to take victory in the women's 800m, while Laura Muir claimed fourth place with a personal best. Team-mate Hannah England was seventh.
Martyn Rooney was third in the men's 400m having finished in 45.25s, Kirani James taking top spot. Matthew Hudson-Smith had to settle for seventh spot.
Eilidh Child clocked 54.89s to finish second in the women's 400m behind Kaliese Spencer of Jamaica. Shona Richards could only muster sixth. A time of 20.93s saw James Ellington take sixth place in the men's 200m.
Greg Rutherford and Chris Tomlinson renewed their rivalry in the men's long jump with the former coming out on top in the clash of the Brits; his effort of 8.04m was enough to claim fourth place while Tomlinson was eighth with a jump of 7.73m.
Tiffany Porter was fourth as Dawn Harper-Nelson won the women's 100m hurdles event.
Elsewhere, Laura Samuel finished seventh in the women's triple jump while Brett Morse was eighth in the men's discus. Kyle Langford and Guy Learmonth were sixth and eighth in the men's 600m respectively. Chris Baker finished sixth in the men's high jump.
