Asafa Powell has pulled out of this week's London Diamond League meeting with back and hamstring injuries.

The former 100m world record holder was forced to withdraw from a scheduled clash with rivals Usain Bolt and Tyson Gay in Stockholm last week, and has not recovered in time to compete at Crystal Palace.

"I am disappointed that I will not be able to run at the London Grand Prix as I love running in front of the Jamaican fans here," Powell said on Thursday.

"I visited the doctor yesterday and he has advised me not to run in order to help the recovery of my injury. I had hoped it would be better but unfortunately this is not so."

Powell's duel with Gay was scheduled to be one of the highlights of the London Grand Prix, following the news that Bolt had opted against competing because of tax reasons. Bolt has since announced he will not compete again this season.
