Britain's Richard Kilty completed a 60m double by scooping gold at the European Indoor Championships to add to his world title.

Kilty, 25, clocked a season's best 6.51 seconds in a race where his team-mate and main rival Chijindu Ujah was disqualified for a false start.

"I felt the guy next to me twitched. I've never false started in my life. For that to happen here, I'm gutted," said Ujah, 21.

Kilty, who was expected to be pushed all the way by Ujah, still had to hold his nerve and executed his race plan impressively.

He said: "After the semi-final I didn't think anyone could stop me. I couldn't keep still between the rounds and I knew as long as I got from the start line to the finish line healthy I would take the victory.

"A few people have called me a one-hit wonder and counted me out yet again. I don't think they should do that again because I've come out here and proved I'm a fearless competitor. Going into this I had no doubt whatsoever.

"Hopefully we can continue this further success outdoors. I've done everything I can indoors now.

"Last year was difficult in the summer because I knew I wasn't in physical shape, but when I am I don't think anyone can mentally break me.

"I'm a fearless warrior when I'm on the track. I absolutely love it. I come alive on the battlefield."

There was more British success with Dina Asher-Smith becoming the first British woman in 30 years to win a medal in the 60m with her silver.

Asher-Smith, 19, flew out of the blocks to lead the race, but was overtaken by Dafne Schippers and clocked a British record-equalling 7.08 to finish 0.03 seconds behind the champion.

"I was looking at the screen, begging that I'd grabbed a medal spot. I had no idea what was going on but I got a silver so I'm over the moon. The time is a bonus," said Asher-Smith.

Chris O'Hare held on to land bronze for Britain in the 1,500m, while Charlie Grice followed up less than half a second later in fifth.
