Profile
Most famous for being kicked and punched live on television by Nelson Piquet after the two had collided in the 1982 German Grand Prix, Salazar showed well in Formula Three and the British Formula One series before joining struggling March and then Ensign in 1981. Success did not come any easier with ATS in 1982 when he was overshadowed by team-mate Manfred Winkelhock and, after a few brief appearances with the RAM team in 1983, he was out of a drive. He moved to race in Indy Cars in the 1990s, racing for AJ Foyt in the 2002 Indy Racing League.
