Australian legend Michael Lynagh has been released from hospital, according to reports.

The former fly-half was admitted to a Brisbane hospital after suffering a stroke two weeks ago. Lynagh stabilised after six days in intensive care and the hospital has confirmed that he will be released after a fortnight of treatment.

While it is unclear whether Lynagh will be allowed by the medical staff to fly back to London, the news of his release will alleviate some concern over his well being, though he has claimed on his Twitter account that there is "a long way to go" but goes on to say that his release is a "big step in the right direction".

The rugby community rallied around him when news of his stroke broke and Lynagh has thanked the well wishers on his Twitter account. Lynagh also took to Twitter to praise those who have cared for him saying: "I would like to thank all the Doctors, Nurses and Staff at the Royal Brisbane Hospital. They were fantastic and are real heroes".
